So Very Happy

Today marks a full month since I started this new blog. It's the best decision I could have made.

I have been so, so happy blogging here.

I love that I can blog about what I want, when I want. I know I could do the same at my old blog, but I didn't.

I love that I can write about my love of birds and florals. I love that I can post a picture containing both without a scrap of hipster irony.

I love that I can post about being Catholic without having to be a "Catholic Blogger." Being Catholic to me is like the fact I have hands that can palm a basketball. It's just one of the things that makes me, me. There's no need to make it my "thing."

I love that I feel comfortable writing about new Christmas traditions, things we do as a family, and pictures of my walks without worrying if people will find it boring.

I love that the people who didn't like the change left--at least I think they did. I hope they did. Don't waste your time on people you don't like. It's not worth it--I'm not worth it. Spend your time doing something that makes you happy.

I love that I am brimming with stories to write about, more than I have been in a very long time. I can't wait for Christmas break so that I can write some of them down.

I love that I'm kind of cheating my way into a scrapbook when I print this blog out at the end of the year. Let's face it, scrapping and I will always be frenemies. (Thinking about using Blurb.)

I love that I built this blog with a $15 template and that I'm slowly but surely figuring out what I'm doing. It's cluttered and not nearly as well done as it would be had I professional do it for me, but it's mine.

I love that I listened to my gut and stepped out of my comfort zone.

Most of all, I love that I quit the rat race instead of quitting blogging.

  1. So glad to read this - and hastening to post that I haven't left! I haven't commented recently at all because work has been so overwhelming I'm pretty much not on the computer at all anymore for fun. (I love my job, truly, but when two highly-placed professionals leave and I take over big chunks of their jobs - when I already had a full-time job thankyouverymuch - it's too much.) Anyway, hope your holidays are wonderful and SO glad about your walking!

  3. I am so happy that you are so happy!! I love your writing, so I of course, followed along over here! Can't wait to hear about the stories that you are brimming to tell!! A friendly reminder.... we still need to hear about the calendar option that you chose, and how you are liking it....I am trying to be better about using one, and would love to hear what is working for you!! My boys are 5 and 2 (tomorrow!) - So, I really need to get in the practice of using one, so that once they get busy with activities I have something in place!

  6. And in return, I'm just glad that you didn't give up writing altogether! You have such a terrific authorial voice and style, and I'm happy to read pretty much anything you want to say.

  7. I'm enjoying the new blog, and am hoping to Wm Morris my own blog for the new year, assuming I can stop dithering on a name. Also, apropos of nothing, and I can't remember if Nico is vegan or just vegetarian, but if he is eating dairy, Smitten Kitchen's twice baked potato with kale is the most yummiest thing ever and I have made it four times in two weeks and you should make it. (Run on sentence completed.)

  8. I love "hearing" the happy in your posts. I love that a blogger I enjoyed was rethinking blogging while I was rethinking whether I wanted to keep reading blogs. I love that we are all evolving.

  9. Love this post! Nothing wrong in changing it up to fit YOUR needs (who knew?). Plus, in a most selfish moment, glad you didn't give up blogging completely! YAY!

  11. I had to let my blog go (and take time off work) due to a major upheaval in my life and am now taking time to refocus and heal and considering my next steps. I am so glad that you, too, are aware that life is about doing what makes you want to jump into the unknown, following your instincts and doing what makes you feel happy, happy, joy, joy (ala Ren and Stimpy). Yesterday, while I was at a natural food store the young guy behind the counter was chatting away happily with another fellow employee and I guess he swore and he covered his mouth when he saw me and said "oops I guess I shouldn't swear" and I said "Hey man. If you can't be yourself in life, what is the point!" So, being true to yourself is key and I am so glad that you are discovering that more and more in yourself! Keep on rockin' mama!

  12. I keep coming back, so you must be doing something right!
I used Blurb to print a 200 page "scrapbook" of a recent trip. LOVE.

  13. Yours is the only blog that I come to on its own --- I haven't even added you to my bloglovin' feed (though I probably will) because this is now, hands down, my favorite blog. I just come here everyday because. I wish there was a like button for this post, even though I'm quitting FB as my new years resolution, lol!
